Serving Refugee and Immigrant Neighbors Together

Refugee Life Team

Cedar Valley is offering a great way for you and your family to impact the life of a refugee family in Minnesota.

Every year thousands of refugees arrive in the Twin Cities from all over the world. We have the privilege to welcome them and help them adjust to life in the US as they find new hope, beginnings, and friends.

Some of these refugees come from Christian backgrounds, know Jesus, and want to be connected with a church community. Other refugees have never understood the truth of who Jesus is. Others have never heard of Jesus at all.

How You Can Help . . .

  • Adopt a newly arriving refugee family and welcome them at the airport
  • Come alongside them with practical help (homework help for kids, helping with appointments, opening a bank account, etc)
  • Build a relationship with the refugee family as you visit several times a month
  • Share your life and Jesus

Partnering with Refugee Life Ministries (RLM)

Cedar Valley is partnering with RLM to provide our teams with practical orientation and training. RLM is a church-based ministry of Arrive Ministries, which has already resettled over 10,000 refugees in Minnesota.

Training and Support

Families who form a team divide up tasks and responsibilities so that no one person is stretched beyond their capacity to serve. Teams are provided with ongoing cultural and practical training before and after they are matched with a family. They also attend bi-monthly training with other RLM church teams. This training provides Biblical, practical, and cultural insights by equipping teams to share the gospel and provide assistance with home and community orientation, employment, budgeting, education, and navigating life in a new city. In addition, RLM staff provide continuous support to teams by meeting with them, providing resources and advice, and quickly responding to phone calls and emails.
