Wake Up
Wake Up
We often talk about what we’re supposed to pass on to the next generation, but what if God also wants to use them to remind us of the things we’ve forgotten? Looking at the life of young King Josiah in 2 Kings 22–23, we see that real revival began when he responded to God’s Word with humility and courage. Even before he fully understood the Scriptures, Josiah sought God, but once the Book of the Law was discovered, everything changed. He returned to God’s Word as the authority for his life, removed every trace of idolatry and spiritual compromise, and renewed the nation’s covenant with God, believing that change was possible. The next generation can remind us of what we’ve neglected. As we learn from their example by returning to God’s Word, removing compromise, and renewing our faithfulness to God, we position ourselves for the kind of revival that always begins at home.
