Why Did Jesus Have to Die?
Why Did Jesus Have to Die?
Many of us know that Jesus died for us. But why? Why was death necessary to achieve our salvation? These are the very questions the apostle Paul addresses in his letter to the church in Rome. For Paul, the crucifixion of Jesus was a sacrifice motivated by the love and holiness of God. Jesus became human, just like us, and experienced death so that we could be restored. Forgiveness isn’t simply about overlooking sin—God’s holiness demands justice, and Jesus absorbed the cost on our behalf. His death has given us right standing with God and set us free from condemnation. God’s love for humanity, along with His holiness, is what brought us back into friendship with Him. Where sin separated, love restored.
